Subtitles for Stolen Pictures

Constructed using appropriated press images from the war in Iraq, this experimental video is composed of very basic elements: pictures and subtitles.

Photojournalistic fragments are pieced together in a silent narration by an anonymous Iraqi. Maneuvers inside and outside the apartment — located outside the so-called “Green Zone” — are interrupted by the narrator’s own death, yet her subtitles mysteriously persist.
