silent, with sound

Constructed using appropriated press images from the war in Iraq, this experimental video uses basic cinematic elements:  time-based imagery and subtitles.

Photojournalistic fragments are pieced together in this subtitled narration of an anonymous Iraqi woman. Maneuvers inside and outside the apartment — in a location outside the so-called “Green Zone” — are abruptly interrupted by the narrator’s own death; yet her subtitles mysteriously persist.
