The crime was purposefully committed before a video camera.
A one thousand-year-old artifact was stolen from an area museum yesterday in what authorities are calling a “senseless crime.” A woman appearing to be in her mid-thirties stood before a surveillance camera, mumbled a few words, then quickly and violently ingested the object.
“Charges will most certainly be brought against her. She will have to pay the price,” one museum official said.
A museum page tearfully protested, “She robbed us of any ability to look at the object again. She stole time — one thousand years — from the institution.”

A museum detective gathers evidence from the crime scene.
